Battle of Britain Airshow
Our sales table at the American Air Museum at the Duxford Aerodrome in Duxford, England. The first time a vendor has been allowed in the door, we sold 20 Bomber Boys over two days to a very appreciative crowd. The occasion was the Battle of Britain airshow, which the Brits remember with great anticipation.
Our table was under the tail of a B-29, and a container used by the Carpetbaggers to drop supplies to the resistance in Europe is in the background. Originally a base used by the Royal Air Force (RAF), it was turned over the Eighth Air Force in April, 1943, and served as a base for the 78th Fighter Group until the end of the war.
The jacket is from the collection at the 390th Memorial Museum in Tucson, Arizona and is one of over 100 jackets that were photographed for the book. Contemporary portraits of many of the veterans, and their stories appear in the book, which has already won two international design awards.
It's not too early to begin thinking about Christmas! The book is also available at these fine museum gift shops across the USA, with the proceeds benefitting the museum.
