Hello Mr. Slemp,
I have all the books on World War two flight jackets and I love them all. And then I receive your book and holy crap WITH OUT A DOUBT your book is the best book on the subject. Your book is not just a book it is an heirloom to be passed down to future generations so they can not only learn about the war but also learn about the men that fought the war and what defined them individually which was their flight jackets.
The book itself is a masterpiece in book publishing it is top quality from front cover to back cover. And to have the book shrink wrapped as well was a bonus. One could tell this was an absolute passion project from start to finish.
My only criticism of the book is the last section of the book with the green pages and the dark font which makes it a little hard to read. That minor criticism IN NO WAY would have prevented me from buying the book because your book was a new book on World War Two flight jackets and they do not come along too often at all. I would have to say the last book on flight jackets that I remember buying was maybe twenty years ago or so.
In closing I just want to thank you again for producing not just a superb book on World War Two flight jackets but the best book on World War Two flight jackets. Wishing you all the best with clear skies and smooth air ahead.

Wow. Very impressive. Beautiful, well written, researched and executed. Do you accept Venmo? I’ll send money. I’d like to keep for my collection.

Hello John:
I want to tell you that I enjoyed "Bomber Boys" very much. Congratulations on making a terrific book!
You have really covered the alpha and omega, or perhaps in this case the Hap Arnold to Dapper Dan, of the fascinating subject of A-2 jackets. It is hard to believe that a book on these ever popular jackets as comprehensive and beautifully photographed as yours did not already exist. Proof that you might have created an instant classic.
I hope your book is a big success. I can think of two places that you should make aware of your book: Website and blog Ivy Style and Crowley Vintage on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crowley_vintage/?hl=en
I think some of their followers will be interested in buying your book.
Best, Philip Meza
Several of the guys in the Great Plains Wing of the Commemorative Air Force have had, and ARE HAVING a wonderful time looking at your Outstanding book, reading the stories! Such GREAT photographs, expected that from a true professional photographer, but it's so much more. Historical record for our library (when it's not at my home). Thank you, and the fast delivery, totally great experience John!

“…I have had your book placed on my living room coffee table since it arrived. The packaging was excellent, and when I opened the box and saw your book I was truly amazed at the quality and beauty of the publication. And now, after spending time looking through the pages, I am overcome with the depth of history, the personal stories, the creative layouts, and your wonderful photography. The large black and white portraits of the pilots are especially touching for me.
I admire the years of perseverance, passion, dedication, talent, and hard work it took for you to create Bomber Boys. This is a beautiful tribute and memorial, and a meaningful gift for many people.
A job well done, John.”

“I recently received John Slemps' new book 'Bomber Boys.'
This book is quite remarkable on several levels. I spent my career as a creative director, eventually leading creative teams. I say this to lend credibility to my comments below. I know fantastic work when I see it.
First, the photography is simply stunning. From the portraits of the veterans, to the rich imagery of the jackets...just simply stunning.
Second, the copy throughout is well written and provides histories and stories that compliment the imagery so well.
Third, the creative design of the book is exceptional. Daren Guillory, of Fournir.co in Houston, concepted and designed 375 pages of awesome! And, John Mollison created several fine illustrations to compliment the book.
Fourth, the printing is deep and rich. John said he wanted the book printed in the USA. He chose the perfect printer, RR Donnelley in Houston.
This book needs to be in your personal libraries. John will also autograph a copy for you. Visit www.wwiibomberboys.com to order your book. eMail him at john@johnslemp.com to let him know you want your book autographed.
Order this book! You will not be disappointed. And, there is a special surpise on the inside of the dust jacket. No, I won't tell you what it is...you'll have to order the book to find out.”

KILL ME NOW…
“Quick post. Today, I received John Slemp's "Bomber Boys" book. It features my artwork.
It also features "old guys" that I knew, and in time, adopted as family.
I received NO MONEY, ZIP, NADA from the author.
On Slemp's promise to honor my dear buddy Robert "Punchy" Powell ( #punchypowell ) I sent him artwork of my rendering of Punchy's #p51mustang "The West 'by gawd' Virginian."
Slemp then talked me into sending more of my drawings for his 'passion project'...
Would he rip me off?
Shite....
This book is beautiful. Beautiful x 100.
OMG.
Slemp, you nailed it. I am so honored to be a part of this work... thank you - I hope you sell-out and you end up on a yacht in God's blue ocean.
Feel free to watch #bandofbrothers
But if you're a WWII aviation buff, inhale, sniff... and buy the book. THIS is a no-regrets purchase for any WWII history geek.
Thank you, Slemp. We've never met but I suspect you're a friend.
Kill me now, brother - I've done good... by you.
And God Bless America..”
“John, my copy was delivered about an hour ago……AWESOME!!!
I’ve only read the Foreword and, of course, our Dad’s pages. Thank you for honoring him. I’m so glad you used his journal.
What an incredible creation you have given birth to! It will bring so much reflection to so many who are directly impacted and a view of a generation of men that we all need to be aware of and appreciate.
Eight years of hard, focused work…question is - what do you do next?
“Thank you” is not sufficient to express how much I appreciate this tribute to our Dad and so many others.”

“Just got my long-awaited copy of "Bomber Boys" in the mail this evening! I pre-ordered this almost a year ago and man, was it worth the wait! Kudos to John Slemp, Daren Guillory and the rest of the team that published this beautiful book!
Not only is the content an extraordinary display of aviation military history, but the book itself is an exquisite work of art! It weighs in at a whopping 6 pounds! This book boasts thick stock paper, slick hi-def pictures, biographical information of the pilots that wore the jackets, their squadrons and the aircraft they flew.
If you're an aviation and/or military history enthusiast, you owe it to yourself to add this book to your library! You won't be disappointed! I bought this one as a gift for my Father, but after seeing it, it's apparent that I need one now as well!
Thanks again guys for all the hard work that you put into this project; it's easy to see how your passion translated into such a stunning, visual masterpiece!”

“Incredible new book by @johnslempphoto documenting the art of the A2 jacket during WWII. Looking at the construction and manufacturing of the jackets, the art and customisation, the pilots who wore them, and the influence this piece of kit has had on popular fashion culture. Essential for any horsehide fans! Brought to my attention by the brilliant fashion and culture historian @laurakitty (who also contributes to the book). Shipped fast to the UK.”
